Airfoil designing softwares

P rogram output is in a variety of forms. Graphical views are in a format similar to published wind tunnel results. Tabulated results may be printed directly or saved in a text file to be imported into other analytical software.

AeroFoil's most powerful feature is its ability to create new airfoils using what is known as inverse design. The design process is fully automated and requires no unusual knowledge of aerodynamics. U sing nothing more than slider bars and radio buttons, the AeroFoil user can tailor specific regions of an airfoil to meet the desired design parameters. No other inverse design software is as simple to use.

T he local air velocity over an airfoil defines all of its performance characteristics. Using AeroFoil , the designer creates a specific velocity profile and AeroFoil does the rest. M aximum lift, pitch moment, drag coefficient, and even airfoil dimensions are changed with just a mouse click and drag. T he vast majority of other airfoil design programs which claim to perform inverse design are based on trail-and-error re-drawing of the airfoil. True inverse design is vastly different and has previously been reserved for aerodynamic experts.

AeroFoil puts the inverse design process within reach of anyone with a general knowledge of how a wing works. XFOIL is an interactive program for the design and analysis of subsonic isolated single-segment airfoils. XoptFiol - airfoil optimisation with XFoil.

Airfoil optimization using the highly-regarded XFoil engine for aerodynamic calculations. In Martin Hepperle's JavaFoil you work with a single "virtual" working airfoil. Click on either FoilSim. FoilSim is an interactive simulation program that determines the lift and drag of an airfoil.

Students can change the value of any of the input parameters by using the blue and red buttons located below the wing picture. Output is presented by colored bar graphs at the lower right. This program was intended for younger students to introduce the ideas of computer simulation programs and to prepare them to "move up" the student version of FoilSim at the proper time.
