Windows media player network sharing service has stopped working
Service "status" was exactly as it was supposed to be, but will not work. Re: windows media player network sharing service has stopped working zachd- appreciate the help! Unfortunately, after looking for and trying other potential "fixes", they did not work and I ended up doing full rebuild did not have good back-up, my bad.
Msg was just too annoying. But thank you for your help! I took the older dual-core from the machine above and stuck in the Win7 machine- and the fail msg happened again! Replies: 1 Last Post: , AM. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations".
After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check. Was this reply helpful?
Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. There where no changes I made. The only thing that was done was regular installations of the windows updates. It has done this 7 time s. I tried all of these steps, however it did not resolve the problem. The service was set up initially to do a delayed autostart. When I click the start button to start the service, it starts but within a few seconds it stops. I have another machine running the same software and it has the same software updates as the machine that has the problem.
Unfortunately, the SFC did not detect any problems either. Then when you reboot, it will not start until called again. You will need all your devices in the same Homegroup to make this work. First you will either need to move the media you want to share to the Music and Videos folder on your computer or import them into Windows Media Player. To import them, open WMP and select Libraries. Add your folders in the Add window and select them.
Any issues getting this to work is usually down to firewall or Homegroup permissions. While Windows Media Player is far from the best media player out there, it does get some things right. I've looked a some tech posted and tried running the program that looks for corrupted system files but the only files it couldn't fix had to do with the windows sidebar. I've deleted and reattached my media extender, I thought it was working because I saw from my xbox the pictures, videos, and music thumbnails counting up as they were added and I could see them.
But if I pick one it freezes for several seconds then says the media sharing service was terminated or something like that. I then go to my PC and see that it's stopped. I can restart it but it only lasts seconds. Just an empty server folder. I started them. The error still persists. The error on the xbox is when I pick a song or playlist to play if freezes for about 20 seconds and then says the connection to media center has been lost, and it restarts itself.
IF I do the dump the 1st program listed is wmpntwrk.
