Vw cabriolet power windows

Hi Chris I have this exact problem. We found it yesterday when the car continued to die even after new battery twice new alternator and other minor things.

It would just die sitting overnite. Finally yesterday we heard something running in that area and located this contol unit. It was full of water and continuiouly running putting a drain on the battery. Also windows stopped working about 3 months ago so both issued solved. The problem however is where can I get this replacement part and what if anything can be done to better prevent water from getting in the car.

Thanks for any help. Leon answered about a year ago. I have a 91 vw cabriolet and my driver side window dont move, then i remove the motor and i relice the motor jus go down and no up, my window was all the way down thats why dont move at all, what cut be the problem tnks.

Back seat was folded down and now the rear seat belts are stuck around the peg for the seat. I can't fold the seat down because the seat belt is stuck around the post.

The car runs fine most of the time. On occassion the rpms drop below 10k and the car bogs down. It takes about 45 seconds to get up to 45 mph from a stop, I park the car in the garage and drive it aga A pretty good car overall but I have one issue. Even after I replaced the drivers side switch.

I hear the passenger try to do something but nothing happens I hear nothing when I try the drivers side. The back windows work great and there aren't any other electric issues with the car. The previous owner said that the windows stopped working at the same time. I haven't seen any fuses for the power windows. Is there a relay or something up on the fuse box? Any help is greatly appreciated. I am scared to drive the car -- if this had happened on the freeway, the loudness of the window crashing down might have caused me to cause an accident.

Consumers need to know that the vw Cabrio has the same safety issue as the vw jetta and golf models. I opened the windows part way to cool the car off, and when I tried to raise the driver's window, it dropped into the door and would not come up.

I could hear the motor working, but the window would not come up. Having had problems with the dealer's service dept, I took it to my local mechanic and they were able to fix it. Was told it is an ignition switch problem.

Also, window automatic close malfunctioning which dealer service says is unrelated. Also, unfortunately at the mercy generally of vw dealer service since many mechanics do not stock the computer necessary to diagnose electrical problems.

I have experienced service problems with two vw dealers in my area northern virgnia. One dealer alexandria vw failed to tighten wheel nuts after a routine check-up and claimed after looking at the car that nothing was amiss.

Another stohlman in vienna, va. To whom it may concern: in March, , my wife and I purchased a new Volkswagen Cabrio convertible. When the car had 13, miles on it, we noticed that the temperature gauge was not operating. There were several other problems at the time, such as the window switches not working properly, and the fact that the alarms had gone off at inappropriate times, locking up the radio.

My wife took the car to the fort myers dealership for service. When she picked up the car, she was told that the instrument cluster had been replaced, and the other problems were also taken care of. She realized while driving away that the odometer was showing zero miles, so she returned to the dealership to question why.
