Jerry sandusky trial witness testimony
A fourth man, identified as "Victim 5," testified that when he was 12 or 13, Sandusky exposed himself to him in a Penn State locker room sauna and sexually assaulted him in the shower right afterward. A janitor also testified, saying his co-worker told him he saw Sandusky performing oral sex on a young boy in a Penn State locker room shower in A year-old man known as "Victim 6," whose encounter with Jerry Sandusky was investigated but resulted in no charges, told jurors Thursday that the former Penn State assistant football coach "bear-hugged" him in a locker-room shower.
Here's a breakdown of so-called Victims , as they are referred to in charging documents, and their allegations of abuse:. Victim 1 : Sandusky allegedly fondled him and performed oral sex on him multiple times, in his home and State College hotels. The boy was years old at the time.
Sandusky was barred from his central Pennsylvania high school in after the boy's mother alerted school officials, triggering the investigation that produced charges. Victim 2 : A boy of about 10 that graduate assistant Mike McQueary has said he saw being attacked by Sandusky in the team showers. Investigators have not been able to determine the boy's identity.
McQueary reported what he saw to head coach Joe Paterno, and Paterno's handling of it contributed to the university board of trustee's decision to fire him shortly after Sandusky was arrested in November. Victim 3 : Sandusky hugged him in the shower and fondled him twice, according to the grand jury report. The incidents allegedly occurred between July and December , at Sandusky's home and in team showers. The boy was Victim 4 : Sandusky is accused of repeated involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.
Prosecutors say more than 50 alleged incidents occurred between and , at the Sandusky home, hotels and university facilities, while the boy was On the first morning of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual molestation trial Monday, faces were given to the horrific allegations that rocked this region and Penn State University, where Sandusky was a defensive coordinator for the powerful football program.
And the defense unveiled its own opener shocker, saying Sandusky will take the witness stand. In an unexpected and aggressive move, attorney Joe Amendola said Sandusky will explain himself directly to the jury.
That decision came as a surprise to prosecutors, who expected to hear Sandusky's words only through the testimony of alleged victims. The most captivating scene in the morning session, though, was the photos of the alleged victims.
But they are real people. They have real experiences. With each photo, McGettigan said the boys' names, personalizing each alleged victim. Sports will not publish the names of the alleged victims. The pictures were from the era that they were in contact with Sandusky. They had soft faces and missing teeth and cheap haircuts.
They were the faces of youth, the ideal of innocence. Except that they had Sandusky looming around them, sometimes literally. With each photo, Sandusky, seated at the defendant's table, turned his head, stared at the screen and offered no visible reaction.
He is charged with 52 counts involving the molestation of 10 boys over a year period. He has maintained his innocence.
McGettigan laid out the state's case with a strong, personalized and powerful opening statement. He paced in front of the jury box speaking in a slow, low tone. He promised physical evidence, witnesses including former assistant coach Mike McQueary and unmitigated proof that Sandusky was a "serial, predatory pedophile.
Even Amendola acknowledged in his opening statement the challenge of fighting the charges, equating it to climbing Mt. He pleaded for patience.
Sandsuky," Amendola said. I just don't know [what to say] …. What you are going to hear originally is going to be very, very easy to say, 'I've heard enough, I don't want to hear it. This is awful. Amendola promised to poke holes in the credibility of the evidence and took particular focus on McQueary, the prosecution's star witness who alleges he saw Sandusky with a boy in the Penn State locker room showers.
That was the start of what will be many days of graphic, disturbing testimony. So graphic and disturbing that McGettigan asked jurors to forgive him in advance for what's to come. He said that he wanted me to think about what happened in again. A State College police detective who investigated the case in was the next to testify. I know I will not get it from you. I wish I were dead. Eventually, the police decided not to press charges. Sandusky was told by the police not to shower with young boys again.
According to the detective, Sandusky agreed that it was inappropriate. Kevin Horne was the editor of Onward State from and currently holds the position of Managing Editor Emeritus, which is a fake title he made up.
